Malinalli X Leyva, Ph.D.

About


Malinalli X Leyva (she/her) is a trans Chicanx from Tejas, with roots all over the southwest. She holds a Ph.D. in History from the University of Texas at El Paso, specializing in Latinx & Indigenous histories of the U.S.-Mexico borderlands.

She currently serves as a Heritage for All Community Engagement Historian/Research Fellow with History Colorado, working in historic preservation. She was previously the Digital Curator/Archivist for the Association of Applied Border History.

Malinalli is a practicing public historian and has worked with numerous museums and community organizations to make history more accessible and inclusive for everyone.
